The Boy John is a quirky glamping boat with basic facilities and outstanding views, set in one of the most sought after locations in mid Wales. Situated on the north side of the Dyfi estuary, The Boy John sits on the shore of Smugglers Cove....a boatyard....with a little bit more to boot! Located with a south facing aspect between the water and the amazing Cambrian Coast railway line, The Boy John enjoys uninterrupted views across the water to Ynys-hir bird reserve, Ynyslas sand dunes and the National Nature Reserve of Borth Bog.
Placed under the spotlight thanks to the BBC's Hinterland (Y Gwyll in Welsh) and Springwatch TV programmes, the Dyfi UNESCO Biosphere Zone incorporates some of the most outstanding natural landscapes and habitats in the whole of Europe and Snowdonia National Park is one of only 18 International Dark Sky Reserves in the world.
The boat includes two gas rings for cooking, sink for washing, toaster, kettle, fridge and has showers and toilets within easy walking distance. Outside on your own patch of Dyfi foreshore there is a fire pit and picnic table.
The boat can sleep 2 adults & 2 children, if the following sleeping arrangements work for you: The main stern cabin has a small double/queen bed (foam mattress). There are two narrow single cushioned benches in the living space (approx 185cm long and 65cm wide) which can be used for sleeping on by children or the petite! A short ladder takes you up to the wheelhouse, this features a high bench style day bed that can be pulled out to make another small double/queen bed (185cms long, so shorter than a normal bed).
